Proving and converting

Metric conversion (eg converting between kilograms and grammes) is often a difficult concept to grasp. By breaking down the mass into whole kilograms and tenths of a kilogram, conversion was much easier. We used scales to prove how much a kg and 1 tenth of a kilogram is in grammes.

Eg 1.2kg is the same as 1kg plus 0.2kg.
1kg = 1000g
0.2kg = 200g

So 1.2kg = 1200g.
