Year 6 call a truce

Today, Year 6 completed their World War I topic with a drama workshop based on the Christmas Truce of  1914. In role, they placed themselves in the shoes of soldiers in the British and German armies along the Western Front, reflecting thoughts and feelings of those at the time. In particular, they conveyed the similarities in experiences of soldiers on both sides, contemplating Christmas in a war zone.  The power of their words and actions clearly showcased their understanding of this topic and how much they have been touched by it throughout the term. Well done year 6 for keeping up the hard work and perseverance to the end. You have made us proud.

Merry Christmas from Matisse Class!

Wow - what a term it's been! We are beyond proud of Matisse Class for all their fantastic effort, team spirit and resilience this year. It's been a challenging year and they have continued to shine!

We marked our last day of school by making time capsule baubles with their 2020 memories in. We suggested they opened them in 20 years to see what they had written!

Thank you to all the children and grown-ups for your thoughtful cards and gifts. It really is very much appreciated and we will look forward to opening them.

We wish you all a very happy Christmas with your loved ones.

Love Mrs Higo, Mrs Myers and Mrs Hooper

Merry Christmas from Dali class!

Santa’s reindeers all ready for Christmas dinner!  Merry Christmas from Dali class!

Dali decorating cookies!

This afternoon in Dali, we decorated some gingerbread cookies! The children had great fun decorating the delicious goods and they thoroughly enjoyed devouring them afterwards. Merry Christmas everyone!

Moore Christmas dinner!

Moore class loved making their own Christmas hats for Christmas dinner today.  We even used the dreaded.... glitter!  What do you think?

Marshmallows and hot chocolate in the forest!

This morning Moore class visited the forest and had a lovely treat of warming marshmallows on the fire and hot chocolate! We sang Christmas songs and even say Happy Birthday to Mrs Rogers.  We then had some free time to build our log creations (and cover ourselves in mud!)

All ready for our Banksy Banquet!

This morning the Banksy Elves have been busy making their Christmas hats all ready for our Banksy Banquet at lunch! They’re definitely feeling the Christmas spirit!

Uno!

Lichtenstein Class enjoyed their presents this morning - it all got very ‘Uno’ competitive for early morning work :-)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Christmas budget in Year 5!

This afternoon, the children were given the task of creating an exciting Christmas Dinner for a family of 6 and they only had £45 to play with. The children worked really well in groups to create their own individual Christmas Dinners and then we voted for our favourite!

Wonderful Worry Dolls!

And here they are! The children have made some fantastic sleeping bags for their Mayan Worry Dolls. The children persevered with the fiddly sewing and have created some beautiful print patterns for their bags! Well done Banksy!

Christmas Dinner Chaos!

This morning, year 5 had the task of putting together a Christmas extravaganza for 6 people. The dinner party menu had to be put together on a budget of £45!! We had some delicious menus put together, with world class entertainment - the children now understand the stress adults can go through organising Christmas!

Year 5 DT project

This week, year 5 have been working really hard to complete their Art/ DT project. Year 5 successfully printed a Mayan pattern onto fabric and constructed it to make a sleeping bag for their worry doll! The children showed great perseverance whilst sewing and perfected the technique to meet all of the success criteria.
