Would you
like to live in a castle?
To launch Year 2’s
topic about castles they firstly discussed in their talk trios what they knew
about castles and then they ‘voted with their feet’ whether they would like to
live in one. (They will vote again at the
end of the topic to see if they have changed their mind).

Then Year 2 went
back in time to medieval England to look at castles. In the immersion room they looked at
photographs of castles that still remain today.
They met some of the people who lived in a castle such as a Lord, a
knight and a blacksmith. The visitors
talked about their role in the castle and they answered the children’s
questions.

Back in the classroom the children painted
the different people who lived in the castle.
