Feeding the birds in the forest- nursery , newsletter

We have had a wonderful time in the forest this week . We firstly read a story called 'Peck, Peck, Peck' by Lucy Cousins which was all about a bird pecking holes. After listening to hear if we can identify any birds we made special feeders to give them some food. First we took in turns covering a toilet roll in dairy free butter then we sprinkled on nut free birds seed and hung it on the trees around us. It was so exciting as the next day when we went up to the forest we noticed that they had been eaten which was great. As well as feeding the birds we used our imagination to create horses, unicorns and even dragons in the forest with big sticks and we went around the forest riding on them.

This week we have also been lucky enough to have a visit from some chicks. We all sat very quietly and still and we chose to either hold or just stroke a little tiny chick. We loved having chicks in nursery and can't wait to find out what animal will visit us next week.
