Christmas wishes from Reception

The children can hardly contain themselves on their last day of school before the Christmas holidays! Just four more sleeps until those special jingle bells will be heard...

On the last day of term, we enjoyed dancing, playing board games, chatting over snack time and colouring in festive pictures. We also enjoyed singing in our special whole school assembly.

The teachers in the setting would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your generous words and gifts. We could not be more proud of how the children have flourished this term. Thank you for all your hard work and support at home!

Now, there's only one more thing to say...

Merry Christmas to all!

Helping the Homeless

This week, each year 4 class has visited the Holy Trinity Night Shelter to learn more about local homelessness. We delivered our homemade soup and bought lots of gifts of

chocolate and sweet treats which they were extremely grateful for!   The shelter is always looking for donations of toiletries and cinema vouchers

Rev. Sarah told us all about the Night Shelter and we asked lots of questions to learn more. The shelter is open every night from November to April and supports homeless people by giving them a safe place to eat, wash and sleep for free. The visit was a great end to our Homeless topic as we got to see first hand the support that is given to people in desperate need.

Final call for raffle!

Thank you to everyone who has bought raffle tickets to win the amazing quilt that every child in Year 4 put together!  Tickets will be on sale until 8.45 tomorrow morning!  Please spread the word!  Proceeds go to the Whitechapel Mission, who provide specialist support to homeless people in London.

Moore class station closes!

Sadly, as our Streets of London topic draws to a close, Moore class station was open for the last time. :(   It has been such an inspirational topic.

Christmas hats in Moore class

We made elf hats for our Christmas lunch today (complete with tool belts) so we were fully prepared to tackle the feast!

Soupe aux Legumes!

Despite being Christmas, Year 4 have been busy making soup as part of their second DT project. Having learnt the vocabulary in French, we followed a French recipe which saw us all chopping and peeling vegetables and making stock which we added together to make a huge serving of soup ready to take to the Holy trinity Night Shelter.

It's a wrap!

Year 4 finished off the DT project!  After using the printing plates to print Christmas images on their bags, the children constructed the bags and added handles.

Miro's Campfire Fun in the Forest!

We had an amazing morning in the forest today! First we learned how to make a fire and get it started. We loved watching as Jon set the fire alight and built it up. Then we enjoyed playing in the forest and taking it in turns to toast marshmallows. They were delicious! We sang lots of songs round the fire and had some tasty hot chocolate to warm us up too. Thank you to the parents who helped us have such a lovely time. What a great way to end our Autumn term topic!

Hepworth Class toast marshmallows in the forest.

To end Year 1's topic about the forest the children had a camp fire, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.

They had the chance to play, build dens and have fun with their friends.

Time for a chat over a hot drink.

At the beginning of the topic the children had to decide if it was a good idea to knock the forest down to build a car-park or new building.  After today all of the children agreed that it was best to keep it!!!

Warhol forest school

We had the best time in the forest this afternoon! First we learnt how to safely start a camp fire and thought about what a fire needs. Then we explored the forest and roasted marshmallows. Finally we sat around the fire and drank hot chocolate!

Puppets Galore

Today we enjoyed a presentation by Puppets Galore about the meaning of Christmas. The puppets were amazing, we loved the songs and we learned lots about the Christmas Story.

Santa Shapes!

In Year 1 we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We used lots of different shapes to make these amazing Santa decorations! First we cut out a semi-circle and curved it to make a cone for Santa's body. We used a triangle for his hat, a square for his belt buckle and rectangles for his arms and legs.

That Christmas feeling...

The children in Cassatt class are really looking forward to Christmas! In fact, we have been singing our Nativity songs non-stop since our performances last week. To shake things up a bit, the children wanted to sing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer "with the tricky, extra bits", to get into the Christmas spirit!

Below, you will find a little snippet of our initial efforts, singing the song as a group.
No doubt our performance will be flawless by the end of the week!

Year 1 children visit Cornwall House

Children from Year 1 went to visit the residents of
Cornwall House
They sang all of their songs from their nativity
 'Whoops a Daisy Angel'

Afterwards, the children had a drink and biscuit and talked to the residents.
This is Lily who is 99 years old.  The children were amazed that she was nearly 100!

The residents said that the children had made their day.
This gentleman requested Away in a manger for next year!
