Jelly Racing

We played a game of true or false and friction taboo to begin talking about the force of friction. Some children debated about whether friction is needed to make an object move leading us to talk about a car stuck in mud. We then looked at how different object move on surfaces and how they are designed to work alongside the force of friction. We then took on the Jelly challenge!

1.)     How quickly can your team move the jelly from the bowl to the plate using only the backs of two metal spoons?

2.)   Can you now try with the jelly covered in oil?
