In Design and technology Year 2 have been learning to sew.
They had to thread a needle and tie a knot in the end of their thread.
They are sewing flames to link with their topic.
This week they learnt how to sew a running stitch.
Next week they will be attaching more fabric to their design.
New vocabulary that Year 2 should be using:
thread
needle
eye of the needle
running stitch
They could practice this at home - especially tying a knot.
We talked about how this skill links to our global goals. By learning this skill the children will learn a life skill and be able to repair clothing, sew on buttons and they may even recycle garments.
