Exploring colour mixing in Reception; Newsletter

The children have been brightening up the outside area this week using powder paints! After learning about Diwali, the children liked how the rangoli patterns made the outside area much more colourful. Using brooms and mops, they decided to blend a large striped pattern together to make a rainbow. They noticed new colours developing as they worked...

Look! The blue and the green are making a greeny-blue, like turquoise!

The children then went on to investigate colour mixing inside. The tiger (who came to tea!) was very thirsty for some orange juice... the problem was, we only had red and yellow juice left! The children worked out how to make the best orange juice possible for our furry friend.

If I put more yellow in, it goes lighter orange. But the tiger might like strong orange juice, so I'll put in a bit more red!
