For the past two weeks in Year 5, we have been focusing on our whole class reading text (Pig Heart Boy) to inspire our writing journey. We have taken the role of Cam -the main character- and written an emotive diary entry discussing our feelings and emotions regarding a controversial and risky transplant.
For our topic lesson this week, the children published their set of instructions for how to sacrifice a human, the children included lots of humour and rhetorical questions to engage and hook the reader. In maths, we have TACKLED short division. After a rocky start, the children preserved and have really made progress with this difficult skill. To end our week, we were visited by Nancy and the SCARF team and we discussed ways to look after our mental well-being to keep a positive mind.
