This afternoon, the children were given the opportunity to learn about the meaning of road signs as part of the road safety session with the Mini Police. We were able to use our knowledge of signs we have seen out and about, including the school sign outside of our school. We were also interested to learn that there are many different signs to help road users and pedestrians stay safe on the roads.

Mini Police - Environmental Crime
This afternoon, the children explored what environmental crimes are and why they are an illegal activity. Environmental crimes can effect society and cause social problems (including hurting our own health).
We also learnt about the importance of proper care for ‘pet’ animals. There are certain animals where a licence is required to own them to ensure they have the proper care (including enough space, food and some animals prefer to live in a pack).

Mini Police - ASB!
This week in the mini police session, Banksy and Dali learnt about anti-social behaviour! We were able to define ASB as ‘acting in a manner that has caused/ or likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress”.
We were able to identify different behaviours that would cause distress and be labelled as anti-social behaviour. Behaviours such as arson, criminal damage and noise problems were discussed and all children agreed that these behaviours are unacceptable.
