Chick Update!

When the chicks left Year 2 in March, they were small, yellow and very fluffy. They were only just starting to grow their wings, but they had already grown much bigger than when they had first hatched!

The chicks went to a lovely home, where they had a fantastic garden to stretch their legs and run around. They have been getting bigger and bigger and now look at them! They're unrecognisable from the little, yellow things we were cuddling in March. They are now (nearly) fully grown chickens!

Here are some pictures of the chickens now:

Haven't they grown?! If you'd like to see more pictures and videos of the chickens, head over to the
Official Windhill21 Facebook page where there are lots more updates!

Chick cuddles in Kusama

This afternoon, Kusama got to enjoy some cuddles with the new members of their class - the chicks!
We all really enjoyed it as they were so soft and fluffy! Some of them were so cosy that they even fell asleep, whilst others enjoyed running up and down children's arms and legs.

Year 2 newsletter

Year 2 are very excited to announce that we have ten chicks! They have all fluffed up now and are looking very cute indeed. They have been moved into their brooding box and are enjoying exploring their new space.
This week we'll be having chick cuddles and we all can't wait!
We will also be making a run for them so that they have more space to exercise.

Year 2 Chick Update!

Year 2 have been excitedly watching the eggs all day, apprehensively waiting for them to hatch...and at last we have four!

They're all starting to fluff up now as they came out really slimy to begin with! They will stay in the incubator for 24 hours, before being moved to the brooding box.

Fingers crossed that they other 6 join us soon as we can't wait to meet them!

Chicks arrive in Year 2

The new year 2 science topic is all about living things and life cycles and so to help us with our learning we are going to be observing chicks growing!

We are all really excited to see what happens. At the moment the eggs are in an incubator which acts like a hen sitting on her eggs to keep them warm.

Hopefully they will be ready to hatch in the next few days so watch this space...
