Unsurprisingly, Year 4 are not exactly winding down for the end of term! This week sees the launch of our exciting Vikingology books at Waterstones. We have learnt to be authors through drafting, editing, typing and publishing our works, not to forget the amazing illustrations that we have done in the style of the renowned author Cressida Cowell. We are sure you will agree that the 'Rogues gallery' that we have prepared ready for Waterstones looks like an achievement in its own right! Another highlight of the last fortnight has been our performance poetry. All three classes have enjoyed innovating and performing 'Jabberocky' by Lewis Carroll. New to year 4 this year, we have also been learning about sound in Science through a number of practical hands on activities. Who knew that sound travelled so well though solids or that we could produce a full octave using only a few bottles and varying amounts of water? In maths, we have been preparing for year 5 by exploring place value up to millions. Our favourite activity was 'Crooked Millionaire'...perhaps something that we won't quite aspire to during Aspirations Week!

Year 2 Maths Workshop
On Tuesday this week we had our maths workshop and what a great afternoon it was! The children were so excited to share the maths they had been learning with their grown ups and they did a stirling job. We can't wait to hold similar workshops in the future!
KS1 Escape Room
As part of our 'maths wonder week' KS1 took part in an escape room on Wednesday. They had to solve various mathematical puzzles and problems that would either give them a code or tell them the location of a key. Once they had unlocked all of the padlocks they escaped the room. The children were fantastic, thinking logically and mathematical in order to complete the tasks at hand!

Year 3 Maths Parent Workshop
Thank you so much to all the parents who managed to join us this afternoon and who helped to make our maths workshop such a success.
Well done to all the Year 3 children who demonstrated their excellent understanding of the key mathematical skills they have been learning about so far this academic year.
If you did not manage to attend the workshop, or even if you did and really enjoyed the games, please find a copy of the instructions for all of the games in your child's homework folder this week. Please also find attached to these instructions a yellow maths workshop comment form. We would really appreciate some feedback from any adults who attended. Please return to your child's class teacher when completed.

Reception Maths Workshops
Today we had the pleasure of hosting our Reception Maths Workshop and we honestly cannot thank everybody enough for your attendance and enthusiasm for all of the activities provided.
It was lovely to see the children engage with you all in a range of different mathematical subjects. From numeral recognition to 3D shapes- you have now tried it all!
Above all we want to say how brilliant and well behaved all of the children were, we are proud of each and everyone of them! Hopefully they wowed you with how much their maths brains have grown!
Here are some photos from our session this morning:
