Animal droppings!

Year 4 have been playing with animal droppings (fake) in our work to identify and classify by properties such as colour and size. We used secondary data to compare the droppings we had to decide which animal had ‘dropped’ them!

Empathy Day- Reception

In Reception we celebrated Empathy Day by watching the following short film:

We discussed how the cloud must have been feeling throughout different points in the film, we tried to empathise with the cloud and think about times when we might have felt those same emotions.

The children wrote some thought bubbles to describe how the cloud was feeling:

 

Suspense writing - Year 6

The year 6 completed their suspense writing this week by going back into the immersion room. The final section of their writing involved the children writing descriptively about an abandoned room. 

Empathy day - Year 6

As part of Empathy day, the year 6 children read further into our class text ‘The Boy in the Tower’.  We discussed the symptoms of  depression and anxiety and found evidence that the main character was struggling with these conditions. We talked about what it must feel like being these characters. 

Apprentice Gardeners

 Year 2 have become gardeners! We have planted beetroot seeds and can’t wait to watch our plants grow! We are going to use our experience to write a guide for other gardeners.

Year 3 Update

Year 3 have had a creative first week back after the half term break. This week we have been exploring a range of poetry. This includes looking at list poems in English. On Monday the children put their imagination and exploration hats on to collect a range of verbs, adjectives and adverbs for their poetry. They either chose to lay on the field and watch the clouds or go into the forest to see what they could find.

In reading this week the children have been exploring how the use of language and structure contribute to the meaning in poetry. We have also been learning how to perform poetry using a our voices, actions and expressions. We hope you will enjoy the children's performances for their homework this week! 

Maths has taken us down a challenging paths this week as we have been learning about the distributive law to help us solve up to 2 digit multiplication. We are really proud of the children's perseverance with this topic as it can be very tricky!

Walking on the wild side has led us to writing letters to invite special guests to our nature trail grand opening which you'll be hearing more about soon...
