With a busy week of quizzes,
year 3 have had some exciting activities to balance all the hard work the
children have been doing in English and Maths.
French cooking with Mrs Moore and Mrs Milward went down a treat; the
children loved making mayonnaise and practising their French along the
way. The added bonus was tasting it with
some ‘frites’ (fries to you and me!) instead of the carrot sticks and celery
that Mrs Smith thought they might have to dip!
A huge thank you to Mrs Moore and Mrs Milward for this fantastic
experience for the children.
Forest school gave us more fun
and excitement. Tree climbing, guiding a
blindfolded partner from A to B by giving them instructions using mathematical
vocabulary, building homes for minibeasts, swinging on the tyre swing and
birdwatching were just some of the activities that the children chose to
do. Done class had close encounters with
2 juvenile robins and spotted adult great tits going back and forth from one of
the nest boxes with food for the young that we could hear chirping away. Towns class found a family of large green slugs curled up under a log. We are
so lucky to have this incredible area for wildlife right in our school grounds.
Sports day was another
fantastic day for all. Mrs Williams
started our day off with a street dancing workshop. The children loved it and gave Mrs Smith an
outstanding performance at the end. Done
class learned a bit more about India but mostly enjoyed making an Indian snack
corn chaat. Nearly all the class tasted
it at the end, even fussy Mrs Smith who declared it delicious! Towns class got creative making their own Mexican flags and enjoyed a quick pop quiz after making and tasting some yummy guacamole!
