As part of our ongoing science investigations in Year 1 we have been looking at the trees in our school environment and the ways in which they differ from each other. On Friday, we went in small groups to look at the birch, cherry and maple trees. We examined their leaves and looked closely with magnifying glasses at the bark. We took bark rubbings and sample leaves and found that we could identify trees by the shape of their leaf. We also noticed that the trees had different bark.
