Investigating symmetry

Today in Year 4, we have been identifying lines of symmetry in regular polygons. We quickly realised that the number of sides is equal to the number of lines of symmetry. Sadly, this was not true for irregular polygons and, despite folding a rectangle, we are still struggling to accept that you cannot fold it diagonally....as for parallelograms...do they really have no lines of symmetry?
