Were the Vikings Criminal invaders?

This question has been puzzling us for a few lessons now and is not as simple as we originally thought!  We prepared continuums of their criminality, used talking triangles, conscience alleys and summarised points for against. Then we cast our votes and realised that different Vikings had different reasons for invading!  (And how criminal was trading whale bones 100 years ago anyway....?)
