Year 1 have had a busy start to the new term! In maths, we have been focusing on addition, subtraction, equality and balance. The children have been using bead strings, cubes, number cards and scales to support their learning.
Our new topic in science is senses! We will be exploring the 5 senses over the next 5 weeks and learning about our body parts.
In English, we have been to the immersion room to look at pictures and videos of tortoises. When we came back to the classroom, the children used lots of exciting adjectives to describe the tortoises.
Our new topic on Africa is well underway! We have looked at an African village and compared this with Bishop’s Stortford and we have looked at the differences and similarities between our playground games and playground games in Africa. Following on from this, we made our own African plastic bag footballs!
