Year 4 newsletter!

Wow, what a busy week Year 4 have had! Not only have both classes now completed their multiplication check (and absolutely smashed it) but we all also visited the Henry Moore Studio and Gardens.

The children enjoyed sketching, touching and learning about the sculptures and artwork of Henry Moore as we had guided tours around the gardens and his house!  We have learnt so much about the artist, his family, his artwork and inspiration from the trip and all decided it was great fun to be able to visit the actual house of our class artist - how amazing!

Did you know, lots of Henry Moore's sculptures are based on reclining women?

Did you know, Henry Moore made small maquette sculptures before creating the larger versions?

Did you know, Henry Moore thought that the spaces left around and within a sculpture are just as important as the bronze itself?

This week, we are going to be busy learning our poems for the School Poetry Slam (Tyger, Tyger and The Lion and Albert).  Hopefully we will present them confidently on the stage and remember our actions!!
