Welcome back to the Autumn second half term. Nursery have got straight back into the flow of school routines again after our half term break and we have a had a very busy first week back.
We
have been looking at the amazing festival of Diwali this week, earning all
about the story of Rama and Sita. The
children all found the ten headed and 20-armed demon, Ravana, fascinating and
were talking about it long after and even drawing pictures of the ten headed
demon! They enjoyed learning about how
Rama rescued Sita from the demon with the help of the Monkey King and how they
were shown the way home through the lit Diya’s.
We have been making our own clay Diya’s in nursery this week and these should
be ready to take home next week. Thank
you to all the parents who donated 50p to help purchase the tea lights to go
with the Diya’s.
We
have also been learning about the celebration of Bonfire Night. We had a visit to the Immersion Room and
watched some amazing fireworks displays and then talked about why we have
Bonfire Night and its history 400 years ago.
We sang some special bonfire night songs and created a lovely firework
painting using cut toilet roll tubes to print with.
This week, Mrs Freeman took the children for their first PE lesson in the school hall. The children also have a second PE lesson on a Friday. If your child has a school PE kit, can they please wear it to school on Wednesday’s and Friday’s. Their first 2 lessons were focussed on how we move around the hall safely and how the children can fid their own space in the hall. We also taught the children 2 basic gymnastic shapes. The tall straight shape and the star shape.
Have a great week!
The Nursery Team.
