Science
In science, we have completed our unit on animals including humans. We finished the unit exploring how our skeleton moves and how our muscles play an important part in this process. We learnt that there are different types of joints within a skeleton (hinge, ball and socket, gliding) and that our muscles are connected to these through tendons.
We focused on our biceps and triceps and learnt that muscles work in pairs; when one relaxes the other muscle is working. This was a great opportunity to flex our biceps and get our arm muscles working!
We created a muscle model using card, push pins and elastic bands to demonstrate how muscles tighten when they are working and loose when the are relaxing. As the lesson went on, some children were keen to "get buff" and did a few push ups to put their biceps and triceps to the test. Brilliant work!
