Year 3 Newsletter

Year 3 News
Welcome back year three, it has been fantastic to have you back to school and continue with some epic learning!

Writing
We have started our writing this term around the format of instructions. To inspire the children's love of writing we have based our instructions on how to wash an unusual animal. We have performed washing a selection of weird and wonderful creatures; explored the format of a set of instructions and even written how to wash a jellyfish! (Our teachers were also impressed that we remembered the term hydrostatic when relating to the "skeleton" of a jellyfish!)

Science

Our science this term has continued on from the previous term through the exploration of animals including humans. We have planned our own investigations around skeletons and thought about equipment we may need. Some questions we have considered are:
  • If you have bigger feet can you jump further?
  • If you have wider hands can you throw further?
  • If you have longer legs can you run faster?

PE

After a great term of golf, we are ready to learn a new set of skills. This term we are practicing ball handling skills. So far we have practised how to:
  • Catch a bean bag standing still from a range of heights
  • Catch a bean bag walking
  • Catch a bean bag running
  • Clap then catch a bean bag
  • Catch and throw a bean bag safely to a partner over varying distances
  • Catch a basketball
  • Catch and bounce a basketball with a partner
