Year 1 Newsletter

What a busy couple of weeks it has been in Year 1! We loved Book Week and are very proud of all the work we produced, inspired by David Walliams' 'There's a Snake in my School!' We particularly enjoyed writing letters to Miranda's parents in role as Miss Bloat the headteacher to tell them how dreadful her behaviour had been! Miss Hall and Mrs Price were very impressed by our wonderful oil pastel drawings of the characters.

In Maths we have been learning how to count a big number of objects by grouping them into tens and ones. We found this quite tricky at first but persevered and we're starting to get the hang of it now!

In Science today we investigated hair colour of children in the class. At first we made a human pictogram by standing in lines next to a picture of our hair colour. We then learned how to make our pictogram using whiteboards before drawing our own pictograms independently to show eye colour in the class.
