Year 4 newsletter

Year 4 have been working hard and having fun (as usual!).  Firstly, we have been writing and rehearsing speeches in preparation for the World Speech Day competition.  Our focus has been Climate Action as this is very relevant to Antarctica.  After learning the "Sciencey bit", we have been writing speeches to explain the issue and how we as individuals can solve make a difference.  This week, will focus more on delivering speeches, looking at tonal variation, voice projection and other oracy skills. Linked to this, we have been studying the effect of modal verbs and created a human continuum in the classroom. Also, we have been revisiting our key question "Should people go to Antarctica?" and have created some spectactular boardgames as a way of showing that there are many reasons for both going and not going to Antarctica.  We will be sad to move on from this unit as we have covered so much in a cross curricular way.
