Year 4 newsletter

This week Year 4 felt empowered by our Parliament week topic of Climate Change. We wrote poems to make people think about the effects our actions have on the wildlife in The Arctic and Antarctica.

We focused on what we see from our world and compared it to what the poor animals living at the Poles see and feel. We presented our moving poems in assembly to the school.

We were also visited by the 2 Johns this week. They explained to us the importance of staying safe when using the internet. We picked up lots of advice on how to deal with people we might come across online and how to safely play our online games. The most important message we were told is to ALWAYS tell our parents if something seems wrong.

As we dived deepe into our Topic of London, we continued to analyse the divide between the rich and the poor. This week we learned about the Grenfell Tower tragedy and how some areas in London have been deprived of important things like safety and well-being. The children wrote newspaper reports before presenting their work as newscasters.

To round off a busy week, we watched Mr Stink - the class book we have been using for our guided reading sessions. It was great to see how the author, David Walliams, had imagined the characters to be!
