What a great first week back after half term! The children settled back into school life and their learning amazingly after the well deserved half term break. In reading this week, the children were introduced to our new whole class book -Pig Heart Boy- and the author Malorie Blackman and as a class we used the front cover and the blurb to predict and infer what the book may be about. We have explored different areas in modern day Guatemala this week in English which links to our Mayan Topic. We innovated the poem ‘The Door’ to describe a positive and negative setting in Guatemala using sophisticated vocabulary. We have looked at formal written methods this week in maths, focussing on addition and subtraction. The children thoroughly enjoyed the challenging shape questions at the end of some lessons this week, where they had to use their problem solving skills!
