What a wonderful start to World History Week in year 6!
Lichtenstein were led by Richard III (aka Mrs Mihajlovic) with Boudicca (or Mrs Pyne) at the Hockney helm and Henry VIII (possibly Mr Wilson) leading the charge in Kobra.
We couldn’t have been more pleased with the wonderful array of costumes on display - and the fantastic oracy and knowledge the children showcased when presenting in class.
All three year 6 classes are focussing on ‘controversial characters’ from history this week - with Lichtenstein looking at Richard III, Kobra...Henry VIII and Hockney - Cecil Rhodes. What a great week we have in store with creative lessons, evidence examination, art and guest speakers lined up.
Lichtenstein kicked off their learning with a zoom call with Matthew Lewis, historical author and President of the Richard III society....we delved deep into the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the infamous Princes in the Tower, and are ready to become historical detectives.
Hockney started work on some beautiful, African art and looked closely at time lines of Cecil Rhodes life.
Kobra enjoyed discussing details of Henry VIII’s reign - with plenty more to come!
Stay tuned for more exciting updates from our historical week....
