Reception really enjoyed dressing up for world history day! We had a range of different historical figures turn up at our doors! From famous palaeontologists to nurses, leaders to scientists, activists to inventors, Reception had a lot of fun sharing their knowledge about their chosen figure.
After learning about everyone's different characters from their speeches during circle time, the children enjoyed role play games based on their own historical stories. We had everything from queens teaching their subjects good manners, to fossil discoveries in the mud kitchen!
We also spent some time sorting different scenarios in terms of whether they had happened in the past, were happening in the present, or will happen in the future.
"I had breakfast this morning so that happened in the past" - Charlotte
"We will be in Year 6 in the future because we are still only 4 and 5 so it isn't happening now" - Rocco
"We sit on the carpet... that's now!" - Layla
We were all so impressed with the children for their engagement throughout the day, learning about different lives and honing their speaking, listening and role play skills.
