Year 5 Newsletter

We have been very impressed with the children’s curiosity this week for World History week! The children in year 5 kicked off the week with some fantastic outfits for their chosen historical figure and they performed their speeches clearly and with confidence. Throughout the week, we have been learning about Jesse Owens who surprised the world at the Berlin 1936 Olympic games by winning four, unexpected, gold medals and we have used all of our new information to write a biography all about his life. The children have also created some brilliantly, bold Olympic art. In maths, the children have shown off their knowledge about shapes and we have started to explore the different types of angles and how to make estimations about the angle size and then how to check the measurement with a protractor.
