Harvest Festival and Autumn discoveries!

In Potter Class last week we were learning all about the Harvest Festival, lots of children collected food for those less fortunate and we learnt about how Harvest is a time for collecting all the food that has grown over summer. The AM children got to attend an assembly all about Harvest and even joined in singing 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' with reception classes. The PM children did a great performance of this song in class and we videoed it for them to watch back. We tied this in with learning all about the Autumn season as the harvest produce is collected in Autumn before the cold winter. The children really enjoyed exploring our Autumn tuff tray collection of leaves, conkers, fir cones and acorns. The used magnifying glasses to look very closely at what each item and we talked about where they might be found. Some children found various natural objects on their walk to school so they added them to the collection. Nursery class love nature!
