The children in Reception have been getting to grips with their writing and mark making skills this half term. Not only does this include thinking about the sounds in words, but it also works those funky fingers too!
Helpful activities to support this development would include using fine motor skills in every day life, such as fastening zips and buttons, grasping jumper sleeves to turn the right way round and doing up and undoing Velcro shoes!
In Leap Frog club children have been learning about initial sounds and are beginning to blend sounds to make words. The sounds that the children have learnt so far are:
m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o
We wonder if there are any objects that the children can spot on their way to school that begin with these sounds..?
