Year 1 Newsletter
Year 1 have been extremely busy over the last two weeks preparing for our songs for our Harvest Assembly. Thank you to all the grandparents that came and supported the children! Last week we participated in a drama workshop, telling stories through drama. We fully immersed ourselves in witch craft and wizardry by undertaking activities including hiding from a witch, being statues and making our own potions. In maths we have been finding one more and one less of a number, using manipulatives to help us. In our topic lessons, we have been drawing a map to help Spiky the Hedgehog find his way around the forest. We have been investigating roots this week in Science. We visited the Immersion Room to watch a plant grow in slow motion. The children created their own 'root dance' to show what they learnt.
