Phases of the moon

Throughout our space topic, we have learnt lots of different facts about the Earth, Sun and Moon. Including orbits, rotations and how these affect night and day. Today, we explored the different phases of the moon and consolidated our knowledge about how long it takes for the Earth to orbit the sun, how long it takes for the moon to orbit the Earth and how long it takes for Earth to spin on its axis. Using our knowledge that it takes 28 days for the moon to orbit the Earth, we were able to explore the 8 phases of the moon. The children created some beautiful diagrams to show these 8 phases.
