Year 1 Newsletter

Year 1 have had a lovely couple of weeks. We have spent a lot of time with our friend Spiky the Hedgehog. We've made a home for him in the forest; created a sculpture of him out of clay in Art and even used our descriptive language to write about when we heard him scurrying around in the shed. ln Maths, we have been using different manipulatives (resources) to help with identifying one more and one less than a number. We also made up our own mathematical problems which involve using one more or one less. In Science, we were 'tree detectives' and went exploring the different bark and leaves on the trees in our school. We have even managed to squeeze in some time to practise our Harvest Festival song!
