After learning about water resistance and the affect this has on objects moving through the water, the children applied this knowledge to design a boat. The purpose of the experiment was to design a streamline boat that will move smoothly and quickly through the water. The children worked well in their groups to consider: which materials would float, how to make a pointed nose and some groups even thought about adding sails to their boats. The quickest time, from Group 3, was 1.23 seconds!
